Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival

May 21st, 2007 By Christopher Allen

This new festival sounds good. Here is the email we recieved.

I am a documentary filmmaker and also program director for the first Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival, to be held this Nov. 8-11 at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Sebastopol is one hour north of San Francisco, and the hub for West Sonoma County, CA, i.e. wine country.

The mission of the festival is to showcase strong documentary films. We are already off to a great start. We will be screening a retrospective of Ellen Bruno’s documentaries, acclaimed editor Vivien Hillgrove is giving a presentation on filmmaking from an editor’s perspective, and Stephanie Geyer-Stevens is putting together a program on audio docs. We recently started the call for entry, and we have been getting in some fantastic submissions. Our goal is to premiere the festival with
an exceptional program.

Attached are the entry guidelines for the festival. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2007. Please forward to any documentary filmmakers you think would be interested. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks!
-Eliza

Mimo’s

May 10th, 2007 By Johanna

The Documentary Bodega is open now and, among everything else, we’re particularly psyched about this:

Mimo's Freezer

Mimo’s Ice Cream has been operating for over twenty years as a manufacturer and distributor of tropical fruit-based frozen desserts. Started in a kitchen in 1983, they now sell their delicious offerings in seven states and are opening a new facility in Central Florida. They are also greatly enhancing documentary screenings in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Big, big thanks to Stephanie Morales and her mom for the generosity!

I’m especially fond of the strawberry sherbet - an awesome popsicle with a slightly complicated package. Instructions below.
