From Sundance to New York!
“Object” and “Starting Point” began their tour of the world festival circuit at the Sundance Film Festival in January and are now bringing 2015 to a spectacular close, with “Object” nominated for an IDA and “Starting Point” on the Oscar shortlist.
Munk Studio/The Polish Filmmakers Association invites you to a free screening of both films, followed by a Q&A session with “Starting Point” director Michal Szczesniak.

“Starting Point” synopsis:
Aneta ‘rebelled to the max’ at the age of nineteen and wound up in prison for murder. Nine years later, her daily routine takes her from behind the walls of the prison to a care home for the elderly. One of the residents, Helena, has been ill ever since infancy. She is fascinated by the phenomenon which is Aneta. In her opinion, the young woman has everything she could want for. And so Helena, whose knowledge of the world has come “from the windows of hospitals and coaches”, avidly asks Aneta about her life. A test awaits Aneta… and help will come from Helena.

“Object” synopsis:
“Object” is a creative and abstract image of an underwater search. The action takes place in the dimensions of two worlds – ice desert and underwater. The story is told from the point of view of the rescue team, of the diver entering the underwater all covered by ice, and of the ordinary people awaiting on the shore.
When the nominations were released, director Paulina Skibinska reacted with jubilance: It’s the most amazing news. I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better to round off Object’ online s year on the festival circuit. Joy, joy and once again, joy!
