Mono No Aware Offering Filmmaking Workshops in Brooklyn

Mono No Aware is currently offering filmmaking workshops in Brooklyn, NY. Workshops are limited to 10 persons or less, providing an intimate hands-on learning experience. Instructors are locally-based, practicing filmmakers and artists looking to share their years of knowledge and experience.  All workshops take place at The Center for Performance Research – 361 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn unless otherwise noted.  Workshop materials such as film stock, film processing, film cameras, editing equipment, HD video transfer of finished work and online hosting of participants’ finished films are all inclusive. At the end of each workshop there is a free public screening open to participants and their friends.  Each session, Mono No Aware will partner with local and international film festivals to offer entry waivers to all participants.  To assist participants in entering their work, Mono No Aware will host finished films on their Vimeo+ channel.

Mono No Aware is a 501c3 cinema-arts organization working to promote connectivity through the cinematic experience. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Mono No Aware presents monthly artist-in-person screenings, organizes analogue filmmaking workshops, facilitates equipment rentals, operates a film distribution initiative, plans cinema field trips, and hosts an annual exhibition for contemporary artists and international filmmakers whose work incorporates Super 8mm, 16mm, 35mm or altered light projections as part of a live performance or installation.

Participants must register in advance for Mono No Aware workshops. Registration is possible via PayPal with your credit card, in person, or by mail. Participation fee must be paid in full at time of registration. Registration is not confirmed until payment has been received in full. Mono No Aware workshops are non-transferable. No refunds, transfers or make-ups are allowed for any missed sessions. Workshops are subject to schedule and instructor changes or cancellation at the discretion of Mono No Aware. All registered participants will be notified of such changes in a timely fashion. Mono No Aware reserves the right to use participant work created in Mono No Aware workshops for promotional materials including, but not limited to, workshop trailers, preview stills, grant applications and printed flyers. Participants have the option to notify Mono No Aware if they wish their work to be withheld from being included in such materials. Participants also have the option, if they do not wish for their photographic likeness to be used on Mono No Aware’s website, Facebook page, and/or any other promotional efforts. All such requests must be made at the time of registration. Audio and video recording of Mono No Aware  workshops is not permitted.  Cancellations received via email only. Participants must cancel seven (7) full business days prior to the date of the workshop to receive an 70% refund. No compensation is available for cancellations less than seven (7) full business days prior to workshop start time. No compensation is available for non-attendance.
