Our friends at El Puente are organizing an event for the exchanging of photographies, memories and stories of South Williamsburg. UnionDocs is in the midst of an experimental project that revisits “Los Sures”, a documentary from 1984 by Diego Echeverria, that skillfully represents the challenges of South Williamsburg when it was one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York City, troubled by drugs and violence, full of abandoned real estate, and badly under-served.
The program goes as follows:

6 – 8:30pm: Celebrate the history of the Southside of Williamsburg with music, food, theater and video by El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice students, and a panel discussion on documenting neighborhood history.
