Marcia Mansur’s film included in the 2018 Margaret Mead Film Festival!

Congratulations to former UnionDocs staff member Marcia Mansur for the inclusion of her film The Sound of Bells (O Som dos Sinos) in the 2018 Margaret Mead Film Festival! The film is contending for the 2018 Margaret Mead Filmmaker Award.

Church bells announce the time for work, rest, prayer, and celebration. But for the people of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the sound of bells transcends the everyday. As a group of young bell ringers develop a sense of pride in making their own sound reverberate through their town, we see how religious experience connects the community to something larger than themselves.

The film will be screened on October 20th at the American Museum of Natural History. Marcia and her co-director Marina Thomé will be attendance. For more information and to buy tickets to the screening, click here.
