Every element is the beginning of a possible mapping of a world existing in between materiality and dream\, history and tale\, presence and strangeness. The play is limitless\, and a hypnotizing tenderness crosses every shot — a serene curiosity towards everything. \nRampart recollects the ghosts and memories of his empty childhood apartment in Belgrade. The family VHS archive from 1998-99 is revisited and re-signified\, bringing to the present a family life unfolding\, marked by traumatic historic events and by their bonds and desires. Dreams are probably the most definite residues of childhood\, and the quiet movement for the film. \nMarko will be in attendance for a conversation following the screening. Come through![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_separator color=”white”][vc_column_text] \nFILM PROGRAM \n[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][vc_custom_heading text=”Rampart by Marko Grba Singh” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_custom_heading text=”62 mins\, 2021\, Digital” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_separator color=”white”][vc_column_text] \nBIOS \n[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”149275″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Marko Grba Singh was born in 1988 in Belgrade. SUMMARY:Flaherty NYC: Prisoner's Cinema
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#ffffff”][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_column_text]**This event takes place at Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Avenue New York\, NY 10003)\, not at UnionDocs. ** \nThis night of short films from Germany\, Iran\, Australia\, and the U.S.\, advances the allegory of Plato’s Cave into contemporary geopolitics\, to focus on all that is not clearly visible\, including those who are denied access to public space. Manipulating the images with text\, animation\, and hand-processing techniques\, the filmmakers reenact and exorcise situations of confusion\, exclusion\, and trauma. In this play of light and shadow\, the works suggest that in the camera\, as in life\, all is not as it may appear. While artifice often becomes accepted reality\, it is often by inquiring into this very metamorphosis that one may reflect on the nature of truth\, transgression\, and freedom. \nFor ticketing information visit: http://anthologyfilmarchives.org/film_screenings/buy-tickets\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_text_separator title=”Program” color=”white” el_class=”h1″][vc_custom_heading text=”TAKE OFF” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_custom_heading text=”1972\, 10 min\, 16mm\nGunvor Nelson” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_custom_heading text=”LUNA E SANTOR” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_custom_heading text=”2016\, 10 min\, 16mm-to-35mm\nJoshua Gen Solondz” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_custom_heading text=”ABSENT WOUND” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_custom_heading text=”2018\, 10 min\, digital\nMaryam Tafakory” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_custom_heading text=”I HAVE SINNED A RAPTUROUS SIN” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_custom_heading text=”2018\, 8 min\, digital\nMaryam Tafakory” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_custom_heading text=”SILICA” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_custom_heading text=”2016\, 23 min\, digital\nPia Borg” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_text_separator title=”ca. 65 min” color=”white” el_class=”h1″][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”125140″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Joshua Gen Solondz is an artist working in moving image\, sound\, and performance.
