San Francisco Film Grants and Fellowships – Due 03/05

Our friends at San Francisco Film  are accepting applications for multiple grants and fellowships. These new opportunities are not restricted to Bay Area based filmmakers or projects and all are encouraged to apply.

SFFilm will be giving filmmakers over $1M a year in grants for the first time in 2018. Each grant and fellowship has a different commitment of time in the Bay Area – spent at FilmHouse, a peer-driven residency space for project development, career sustainability and year-round programming, one block from City Lights.

Currently, there are two documentary fellowships currently open. The first being the SFFILM Catapult Documentary Fellowship, which supports filmmakers in early development on compelling, story-driven, feature documentary films. The fellowship includes a $10,000 grant, curated mentors, guidance from SFFILM and Catapult Film Fund staff, and access to SFFILM’s FilmHouse residency.

The second fellowship is the SFFILM Vulcan Productions Fellowship. This international fellowship is geared towards filmmakers with a proven track record of creating compelling, wide-reaching stories through documentary film, photography, journalism, or related fields. This fellowship will support a feature documentary project in development or early production that addresses pressing environmental or conservation issues through strong, creative storytelling that is both unique and appealing to a large audience. The fellowship includes $25,000 and resources to experts in the environmental field.

The deadline for both fellowship applications is March 5th. Additional narrative programs accepting applications include the Rainin Grant, the Westridge Grant , and the Sloan Science in Cinema Fellowship.
