Come and listen to the producer of “Searching for Sugarman” and “Man on Wire,” both BAFTA and Academy Award winners, talk about his amazing documentary productions, how they came about and what he looks for in subject matter, among many other things.

The event will be moderated by Molly Thompson, BAFTA New York Board member. Molly launched and runs A&E IndieFilms, the network’s feature documentary division.Master Classes are special evenings where innovative talents from the film and television industries share their creative practices with the audience. These Master Classes give the audience an opportunity to exchange ideas with some of the industries’ exceptional talents.

Simon Chinn, a double Academy Award winning producer, has been responsible for some of the most successful feature documentaries of recent years, known for their high production values, powerful narratives and innovative blending of documentary and fiction techniques. Chinn conceived and produced Man on Wire, directed by James Marsh, which won over thirty international awards, including the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film, the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Award and the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and was named by The London Observer as one of the best British films of the past 25 years. In addition to Man on Wire, Chinn has launched the films Project Nim, Searching for Sugar Man, The Imposter, and Everything or Nothing.
