UnDO CoLAB Alum Doc “Pure Flix and Chill” Investigates Evangelical Cinema

We at UnionDocs are proud to share the most recent work of our Collaborative Fellow alumnus Anthony Simon.

The project may have begun as an inside joke between friends, but Simon’s Pure Flix and Chill has evolved into a gem of its own, interrogating the recent successes of Christian filmmaking and the Pure Flix film studio by pairing footage from their films with brazen soundbites from their founder, David A.R. White. An archival portrait spanning 30 years and made up entirely of over 50 interviews, movies, and TV shows, Pure Flix and Chill is a critical analysis of a failed culture war and its prophet.
