The Cinema Eye Honors, dedicated to honoring the craft of nonfiction filmmaking, are back for their fourth edition coming up on Tuesday, January 18 at the newly revamped Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. With much debate over the Oscars documentary selection again this year, the Cinema Eye Honors occupies an increasingly important space for awarding documentary filmmaking. With a great roster of documentary films up for awards including Purchase Marwencol, The Oath, Sweetgrass, and Cheap Buy The Sound of Insects, along with a new hybrid doc award and strong selection of nonfictions shorts nominated, this year’s event is not to be missed.
