Alexander Ramírez-Mallis is a filmmaker living and working out of Brooklyn, NY. His short documentary, The Dentist, was selected for the 2011 Independent Film Festival of Boston. His collaborative short, Matthew 24:12, won Best Film and Best Directing at the 2011 International Doc Challenge at Hot Docs. Alex is an avid photographer and greatly enjoys the darkroom. He is currently working on Spoils, a verite-style documentary about dumpster diving at Trader Joe’s in Brooklyn. Alex is an MFA candidate for Integrated Media Arts at Hunter College (CUNY).
