Andre Valentim Almeida is a media theorist, filmmaker, and PHD candidate currently writing his dissertation on Interactive Documentary. His latest production is a documentary controlled by a gamepad and his previous project was the more traditional feature, “From New York with Love”. He taught media production at the University of Porto and was the scientific coordinator of a major video training program in the newsroom of the Portuguese news agency. He has been involved in different media projects, namely the setup of the award-winning TVU website and the International Academic Film Festival UFrame. Andre was part of the first yearlong collaborative documentary program at the UnionDocs. As a media maker his work has been screened at MoMA, Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, TEDx Brooklyn among others. Though he’s not thrilled on public appearances he was a TED speaker at TEDx Aveiro.
