Karin Chien is an independent film producer, and winner of the 2010 Independent Spirit Producers Award. Karin has produced ten feature films, including STONES IN THE SUN (2012), JACK AND DIANE (2012), CIRCUMSTANCE (2011), THE EXPLODING GIRL (2009), THE MOTEL (2005) and ROBOT STORIES (2002) as well as museums installations UNTITLED (STRUCTURES) (2013) and THE CHINATOWN FILM PROJECT (2009), and recently the iPad app VISION MACHINE (2012). Her films have won over 100 festival awards, been nominated for four Independent Spirit Awards, premiered at the Sundance, Tribeca, LAFF and Berlin Films Festivals, and received distribution in over 50 countries. Karin is the founder & president of dGenerate Films, the leading distributor of uncensored films from mainland China, and the co-founder & president of i love 2, a boutique production company for short-format media. Karin is the founder & director of the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) Fellowship, a mentoring program for Asian American media professionals. Karin recently consulted for ITVS, the NY Times, Film Independent, the Sundance Film Institute, and she teaches producing at Temple University.
