Sandra is a documentary filmmaker, researcher and writer based in Vancouver, Canada. She holds a Ph.D. (Political Science, York University), M.A. (Indigenous & Canadian Studies, Trent University) and has completed documentary and storytelling training at Maine Media and Langara College. From street activist brass bands to tourists travelling on ferries along the Labrador Coast, her films adopt a sensory ethnographical approach to examine the spontaneous emergence – and conflicts – of cultures in public space. Her first two short documentaries screened in 25+ communities coast-to-coast in Canada and the USA, including DOXA, Whistler International Film Festival, Canadian Labour International Film Festival, Yale Environmental Film Festival and the Yukon International Short Film Festival, among others. Sandra is an alumnus of the Vancouver International Film Festival Mentorship Program and the RIDM-DCM Talent Lab.
