Sara is an aspiring filmmaker, travel enthusiast, and foodie from Tampa, Florida. She currently studies at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University. Her field of concentration is film and social activism, specifically focusing on the issues facing the Arab community. Her thesis is investigating the cross-section of Egyptian/Arab culture and mental health/mental illness stigma. This past summer, she spent two months in Egypt conducting research and filming for her short documentary. Prior to studying at NYU, Sara served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Western Ukraine and mainly worked with an organization that assisted disabled children and their families. While she was there, she executed a USAID-funded project that created an inclusive journalism and media school for both disabled and non-disabled youth. Sara will graduate with an M.A. from NYU in Spring 2020 and received a B.A. and B.S. in International Studies and Public Relations from the University of Florida.
