The Media Arts Department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University seeks applications for a full-time visiting artist in moving image production. The position involves teaching undergraduate studio courses to art majors at all levels, from introductory to advanced. Requirements include: a proficiency in the production and post-production techniques, practices, and critique of moving image, sound, and media art, as well as a thorough knowledge of the discourses (theory and history) of video art and film within a fine arts context; a demonstrated commitment to teaching; the ability to teach students with a wide range of cross-disciplinary interests and to support their work both conceptually and technically; and good interpersonal skills, including clarity, generosity, and creativity. Areas of specialization may include: video art and installation, performance video, live-action animation, experimental narrative, hybrid fiction and non-fiction, and/or other intersections between art and moving image.
Candidates should have an MFA in Studio Art or an equivalent degree, and should have college level teaching experience, preferably at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
