Amber Cortes
Operations Manager 2007-2010
Amber Cortes is currently serving as the Transmission Project/Digital Arts Service Corps employee for KBCS 91.3 FM, a community radio station in Seattle. There, she produces radio and new media content, and is currently working with developers to create a dynamic website for the station and make the switch to an open source content management system. She also works for Reclaim the Media, a media advocacy organization in Seattle, and is organizing community radio stations across the region to share content and resources across multiple digital platforms. She is the New media Gallery Artist in Residence at Jack Straw for 2011-2012. Amber graduated from Hampshire College in 2000 and cut her radio teeth at WBAI and WNYC in New York City. She has also worked in print journalism at The Village Voice and as a production coordinator on several feature length independent documentaries and films. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and making sound art.
