Mar Thames is a third-year student at The New School pursuing dual degrees in Journalism + Design and Photography. Coming from a family of 32 first cousins, 4 aunts and 4 uncles all on her mother’s side, Mar has always been surrounded by the passing of stories. It was only when she picked up a camera at the age of 16, she realized that she wanted to tell stories of those beyond her family. Now, as an aspiring visual-based journalist, her camera and notebook go everywhere she does. With the belief that everyone’s untold story is an essential perspective for the world to know, Mar is always striking up conversations with anyone willing to talk.
