With an understanding of the intimacy necessary to produce honest and compelling documentary, Tamer Hassan has spent two years integrating himself into the counterculture of income-sharing communities and ecovillages in Virginia and Missouri. An experiment in observational cinema, Hassan’s latest film immerses the audience into the environments of three communities, allowing minimal dialogue to echo through long sections of observation, weaving ideology with the beauty of hands-on work with the land.
