Description

Sound Fields is an independent journal and event series dedicated to the art of audio documentary in theory and in practice.

The Archives Issue is an attempt to reckon with the future of the field by engaging with the past.

From AI zombies in the archives, to WhatsApp voice memos as archival material, to transforming Black archives into tools for navigating the future, to considering the aesthetics and ethics of sonic IDs, an international gathering of contributors consider how audio documentary produces, reproduces and intersects with the archive.

Featuring short essays, Q and As, and practical How-To tips from working audio documentarians at the forefront of audio archival practice and critique.
