We’re getting ready to grill up some tasty treats to help kick-off our new season of documentaries and watch some of our best moments from past Doc Bodega events, and you’re invited! As Autumn descends upon Brooklyn, the Documentary Bodega gears up for another exciting year of films and discussions. We’re changing our format a little this time around: the 2008-2009 series will be divided into three distinct, themed seasons, each of which will culminate in a weekend-long symposium/seminar. Hopefully, this will allow the discussions after each screening to become part of a larger conversation conducted over a couple months and lead to a more interesting examination of the documentary art form. With a watchful gaze cast toward the U.S. election season, we chose to name the Autumn 2008 season “Praxis!”
Praxis: the synthesis of theory and practice, concept and execution, each informing the other; the political activity engaged in by free people: truth production, action.
We have assembled an exciting schedule of documentaries that examine a wide array of political themes, both at home and abroad. The full schedule is available here.
Please join us this Sunday to kick-off Praxis! with a cookout and screening of highlights from past Doc Bodega events.
