Memorial Day Party

With live music from Katie Mullins and Racket Club.

It has been a busy start of 2013 and we are excited for all that is to come. Before Memorial Day weekend is in full swing, we want to get together to celebrate. We have recently upgraded our facilities (including a new projector, screen, and cameras), launched a re-designed website, and participated in the Tribeca Institute’s Hot Hacks with Living Los Sures. Not only that, we’re approaching our final months of regular weekend events before summer is in full swing, and our annual call for artists for next year’s Collaborative Studio Program is now closed.

Come join us for some live music and fun with Katie Mullins and Racket Club, as well as DJ sets courtesy of this year’s Collaborative Studio Artists.

8:30pm – Doors / warm up DJs

9pm – Katie Mullins

10pm – Racket Club

11pm – More DJs

Katie Mullins‘ music is ‘as unassuming as it is ambitious’ with its ‘haunting vocal layering’ and dream-like lyrics, creating a mood that seems simultaneously imaginary and real. Her second album, Wedding, released in January of this year, is a collection of songs about life and dreams, and about loves labors as they are growing and as they get lost…about things coming together even as they fall apart. http://katiemullins.bandcamp.com/album/wedding

Racket Club first bonded over soccer tacos, bicycles, the cheese counter at Fairway and the Love Joys, all in one warm summer day. Not long after, we started making a racket together. Some say we remind them of Young Marble Giants, others The Mekons, 10cc or Margo Guryan. We like all that music and more. Racket Club is made up of Stephanie Skaff (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Fiona Ryan (vocals, keyboards, flute), Gabriele Caroti (bass) and Alex Steinberg (drums), and our motto is: Since we’re here to stay, let’s dance the night away.
