NEW WORLD ORDER is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at conspiracy activists and the growing underground anti-globalist movement. These people seek to expose “global elitists,” who they claim are covertly masterminding a series of destructive events resulting in a mass breakdown of the world’s economy and society. Once the world has fallen into chaos, these same “elitists” will offer a plan to rebuild the economic and social structure of the world (to their liking). This concept is also known as the New World Order theory.
Neel and Meyer explore this anti-New World Order movement’s alleged global conspiracy, which focuses mainly on the annual Bilderberg conference and the 9/11 attacks. At the film’s center is Alex Jones (WAKING LIFE and A SCANNER DARKLY), an impassioned celebrity radio host and underground cult hero, and four other conspiracy theorists on their ceaseless quest around the country and abroad to expose the “massive global conspiracy” they believe threatens the future of humanity. While the film does not try to prove or disprove conspiracy theories, NEW WORLD ORDER is a rare and poignant look at ordinary people and activists whose lives and actions have been changed and defined by the power of ideas.
NEW WORLD ORDER marks the second feature from Andrew Neel and Luke Meyer who also co-directed the SXSW Audience Award-winning film DARKON. Neel also directed ALICE NEEL, a documentary about the American painter Alice Neel, and THE FEATURE, a fictional biography of video artist Michel Auder. NEW WORLD ORDER was produced by SeeThink’s Tom Davis and executive produced by Cactus Three and the Independent Film Channel (IFC TV). NEW WORLD ORDER premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and aired on IFC.
