Skin Thorn Loss
With Tin Dirdamal
UnionDocs
352 Onderdonk Ave
Ridgewood, NY
We’re thrilled to bring back the ever-curious and fascinating, Tin Dirdamal, for a special live performance and screening of SKIN THORN LOSS, a film that only happens once.
Dirdamal is an unorthodox editor, known for being able to edit “impossible films.” He measures the success of his films by how much of himself he was able to abandon in the process. Also self- taught in psychology and architecture, his most useful tools are doubt and contradiction.
Born 165 kilometers south of the US-Mexico border, Dirdamal self-identifies as a gypsy and a nomad, he lives in places with the understanding he will soon abandon them. He has lived for prolonged periods of his life in Arizona, Bolivia, the North of India, the South of Mexico, the North of Vietnam, the West of Turkey, the North of Albania and Rwanda.
He directs, produces, acts, writes, does camera and sound, composes music, edits, and designs the sound for his own films. At 22 years old he grabbed a camera for the first time in his life and made his first accidental and feature length film that won him the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. He has made 4 feature films thus far and has worked as an editor on 4 feature films of other filmmakers.
We’re delighted to have him back to UnionDocs after sharing his feature Death In Arizona almost exactly 8 years ago to the date for this forthcoming program where he first introduced us to his dazzling pursuit of questioning through filmmaking. We’re thrilled to bring him back and bring folks to this latest singular work. One time only! See you there!

SKIN THORN LOSS
2024, 80 mins
A man walks an empty street knowing he lost that which he does not remember. If he does not find it back, he will cease to exist. All he knows is he must go to the foot of the Texas Ash Tree. He must go alone. He mustn’t arrive late, nor early. Hands that cannot grasp, eyes that can’t see.
Program Duration: 80 mins
Watch the conversation between Presenter1, Presenter2 and Presenter 3 on the UnionDocs’ Membership hub.
Bios
Tin Dirdamal is an advocate of plagiarism and is a great ignorant of world affairs. He believes that lies can be an instrument to approach truth. It takes him on average 5.5555 years to complete a film. He knows how to find underground water, until recently he had never read a book in his life and he has never voted in an election of any kind. He is convinced he can document the future and has attempted this numerous times, failing thus far.
His films have been shown and awarded at some of the most important art venues and film festivals around the world including: The Venice Biennale, Sundance, Visions du Reél, IDFA, DOCNY, L’Alternativa, La Mostra de São Paulo, Jihlava, Torino, Mar del Plata, BAFICI, FICUNAM, Ambulante, DokuFest.
