Calling all documentarians! The annual online Storytellers’ Institute sponsored by the John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS) is now accepting applications. This five-week summer residency at Skidmore College is a unique experience combining the freedom to create work with the fulfillment of mentoring the next generation of practitioners. The institute brings together four professional documentarians (Visiting Fellows) and 10 Skidmore College student and faculty members to work on personal projects, receive and give critiques, and engage with a theme. This year’s theme, Surveil/Surveilled, invites a timely discussion around rights to privacy and also a meta conversation about documentary techniques and surveillance. The fellowship runs from May 31st to July 1st, 2018 and includes: a $2500 honorarium, travel stipend, a public exhibition, room and board, workspace, and access to Skidmore facilities. Purchase
Visiting Fellow applications are now open and documentary makers working in all mediums are invited to apply. The deadline is December 15, 2017 and priority is given to those working most closely with the online annual theme.
