LIVE / WORK
IN PROGRESS

While UnionDocs labs are on hiatus, we’re inviting a small group of documentarians, media artists, journalists, thinkers, makers, or interdisciplinary practitioners who may be looking for a bit of motivation, peer support, intentional living and, perhaps, a much needed change of scenery this fall to LIVE/WORK @ UNDO, a 4-month residency at UnionDocs in Ridgewood that brings a bit of camaraderie and structure to what can sometimes take shape as a lonely process.

We have always believed in immersing your work in a supportive community. A network of fellow artists that can offer new perspectives, challenge assumptions, and foster progress is a deeply valuable resource, and one that we invite you to cultivate with us for the remainder of 2023.

Our aim of this residency is simple: to bring together committed and curious peers who can push each other’s work forward through a simple and lightweight structure of weekly meetings and feedback.

Beyond that we encourage the group to self-organize skill-shares, screenings, dinners, and production support, and to team up where it makes sense. But mostly this program provides a focused space to embed in a creative community that supports your goals.

RESIDENCY DETAILS

Since October, UnionDocs has been making a new home in a three story building in Ridgewood, Queens at 352 Onderdonk Ave. The first floor hosts our office and event space, while the artist residency can be found on the top two floors, typically reserved for participants in our labs.

Upstairs, there’s a big group kitchen and lots of common space. There are single, private bedrooms for each resident and access to the resources that UnionDocs has to offer, like production desks, and an expansive outdoor terrace complete with a grill and pizza oven, a great place to let off steam and maybe catch a sunset over the Manhattan skyline. We are located two blocks from the beautiful Grover Cleveland Park, around the corner from many galleries, DIY spaces, fantastic bars, cafes, restaurants and some of the best music and nightlife in NYC!

You also will be inaugurated into the UNDO community with a complimentary membership which means free access to public events in the space and to our archive of workshop sessions and films on our membership channel.
