With Karen Mirza, Brad Butler, Johan Grimonprez, Gibbs Chapman, Sean Hanley, Gabriela Monroy, and Caspar Stracke. An evening of film and video featuring some of the presenting artists from the 60th annual Robert Flaherty Film Seminar as well as some additional artists who attended the Seminar.

Transexual Menace

With Karl McCool, Justin Vivian Bond, and Chris E. Vargas (MOTHA). Transexual Menace gives viewers remarkable insight into the home and work lives of transsexuals from many cultures and countries, including female­-to­male transsexuals and those with families and children.

Seventeen

With Matt Wolf (Teenage) and Clinton Krute (BOMB Magazine). A film about coming of age in the working class, following a group of teenagers — girls and boys, white and black — whose lives intertwine during their last year in high school.

Ne Me Quitte Pas

Presented by the Dutch Consulate with Eric Kohn (Indiewire). A tragicomic ode to failure: set in a village on the edge of Belgium, Bob (Flemish) and Marcel (Walloon) share their solitude, sense of humor and carving for alcohol.

Crazy, Quirky, Scary, and True

Presented by Emon Hassaon (Narratively) with a performance by Ken Butler with the filmmakers in attendance. A shorts program presented by Emon Hassan (Narratively) with a performance by Ken Butler.

Grit & Grind + Kate Bornstein

Featuring Kate Bornstein and Dara Messinger with filmmakers Sasha Wortzel, Felix Endara, & Sam Feder. Grit & Grind is a short documentary about the Clit Club, an edgy lesbian party set in New York City’s Meatpacking District in the 1990s, as this large metropolis struggled with the AIDS epidemic. Kate Bornstein Is A Queer and Pleasant Danger captures the many facets of a queer hero and pioneering gender outlaw.

When I Walk

With Director Jason DaSilva, Executive Producer Yael Melamede, Aubrey Gallegos (POV). A candid and brave chronicle of one young man’s struggle to adapt to the harsh realities of M.S. while holding onto his personal and creative life.

Bridge High + Short Circuit

Director Manfred Kirchheimer with Jacob Perlin (Cinema Conservancy) in person. Bridge High examines a passage across a suspension bridge, moving from the country to the city, a half minute trip ­expanded; Short Circuit has a documentary filmmaker begins to question his interactions to the white family and black workers he shares his daily existence with.

The Traffic of Illusions

With Jean-Christian Bourcart, Pawel Wojtasik, and Nan Goldin. Using photography, writing and moving pictures, Jean-Christian Bourcart explores what constitutes an image: a significant surface that questions our relationship to ourselves, to society, to history, to reality.
