The Signal To Noise Award. Get support for your innovative audio documentary – Aug. 31

The Signal to Noise Award is back!

Presented in partnership with our friends at Gilded Audio, this award celebrates creative narrative audio work, providing the opportunity for an audio documentary project to come to life. The award provides one applicant a production grant to pursue their project.

All proposals will be reviewed, but special consideration will be given to projects that:

  • Focus on one of our suggested themes (see below)
  • Are new projects
  • Approach audio documentary in an innovative way

This year we are proposing several themes to focus your project on:

    • Self-Preservation
    • Secrecy
    • Villains
    • Time
    • Aliens

These topics are meant to inspire creative, new ideas and are open to interpretation.

The award includes:

    • $5,000 production grant
    • Production consultation and technical support from Gilded Audio
    • Editorial consultation from the staff of UnionDocs.

Application Requirement: The proposed project must be an audio documentary. All formats of audio documentary production will be considered: radio, podcast, installations, exhibitions, hybrid-format, etc.

All who are considering are strongly encouraged to apply.

Application Deadline: August 31st, 2020 11:59 PM EST

NOTE: We are aware that COVID-19 is a large part of everyone’s personal narrative right now and will likely affect your documentary context and production process. We encourage applicants to think beyond COVID-19 as the central theme of your project, and rather allow it to be a natural part of your documentary, if appropriate.
